About our Highlanders
Here at DARKSIDE HIGHLANDERS we pride ourselves on producing happy, healthy, standard cats. All of our cats are registered with ACFA, LCWW or TICA and DNA tested by Optimal Selection for 40 plus genetic disorders as well as genetic diversity. All cats are also shown in ACFA & LCWW Champion class or TICA's advanced new breed class. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in one of our Highlanders.
Personality & Myth
Highlanders have a very dog like personality. They will often learn to walk on a leash, play fetch and many other games. Some even like water! They enjoy being with their people and are very affectionate.
Myth... Highlanders may look wild, but they are purely a domestic breed of cat with no "wild" blood in them. Highlanders have been registered with TICA since 2004 with no reported out crosses to anything such as a Lynx, Bobcat or Jungle Cat. That's 16 years of domestic breeding. |
What makes a standard Highlander?
- #1: A standard Highlander will have slightly curled ears.
- #2: A naturally shortened tail that is at least two inches long, but no longer than the hock.
- #3: Has "Straight Feet", meaning no more than four toes. No extra toes or poly footed cats.
- This is what the current standard requires for Highlanders to be shown in ACFA or LCWW Champion Class.
